This past summer we told you about a new fishing series called Pirates of the Flats, which will air on ESPN2 in January. The show is a wacky mash-up of fishing celebrities like Tom Brokaw, Tom McGuane, Michael Keaton, Lefty Kreh, and Yvon Chouinard, who all head down to the Bahamas on a quest to catch bonefish and goof around as much as possible. Like all fishing trips, the goofing around is often the best part—and it’s definitely the best TV.

In coordination with a feature that’s running in Garden & Gun in the next issue (out in early December), we asked the show’s producers to put together some bloopers and outtakes. There aren’t a whole lot of fish caught, but if you want to see Lefty get razzed about his pink flyswatter or watch a cameraman get whacked in the head by an errant cast, this clip will give you a sense of what the trip was really like. As the saying goes, that’s why they call it fishing, not catching.
