The Ultimate Texas-Made Weekend Shirt

In a region that’s heavy on heat and light on snowstorms, it can work as a shirt, a jacket, or a light layer

The new J.R. Shirt, designed and made in Austin, Texas, by Criquet, is the sort of Valentine’s Day gift that makes perfect sense for a Southerner. In a region that’s heavy on heat and light on snowstorms, it can work as a shirt, a jacket, or a light layer. “This is a shirt Southerners will wear eight months out of the year,” says Hobson Brown, who founded Criquet with Billy Nachman in 2010. “It will only get better and develop more character and softness with age.”

While the heavyweight cotton (available in retro yellow or hunt green) is borrowed from the past, the slimmer fit is pleasingly modern. “These chamois shirts remind us of our Dads at their best, both relaxed and put together,” Brown says. “They were businessmen who wore suits every day of the week, but loved being outside, whether working with hunting dogs or spending time with family. We wanted to bring back the perfect weekend shirt because we have an emotional connection to the them.”

What’s not to love about that?
