Getting the Blues Once Again
February 24, 2012The Hill Country’s favorite sons, the North Mississippi Allstars, are paying homage to the material that helped form their love of blues and rock by releasing digital versions of songs throughout 2012. The “Songs of the South Series” kicks off with a ripping version of the traditional blues classic “Rollin’ n Tumblin’.”

NMAS lead singer Luther Dickinson says the group also plans to record with other artists as well as record acoustic versions of other favorites such as “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen” and “Beautiful Dreamer.”
“These are songs that I have loved since my childhood, ones I learned from my father and grandmother,” Dickinson says. “Growing up in the South, they were part of the landscape of my youth and helped shape my concept of art.”
“Rollin n Tumblin’ is currently available for download via iTunes and the band’s official website. Check out the video for the song—directed by Cody Dickinson, Luther’s brother and NMAS Drummer— below:
