Bespoke Clothes Made Easy

By Jessica MischnerSouthern in the CityMarch 28, 2011

After standing in line for an hour and a half last Friday, I finally got the next gen iPad2. Obviously, I spent the better part of the weekend exploring the vast capabilities of this amazing device (which totally lives up to the hype, btw). One of the apps I downloaded, Flipboard, works as a consolidator for social media, combining and organizing Facebook, Twitter, RSS feeds, blogs, and the like, into a magazine-like format that makes the information much easier, faster, and–I think–more enjoyable to read. Inside the Beltway, hundreds of adults and children will share in the collective joy that comes from knowing that the long stretch of winter is mostly behind us and warmer days are ahead.

Elizabeth Taylor, one of the all-time greats, died today. She was 79 years old. As a kid, National Velvet inspired a mean bout of horse-fever, and for years, I begged my parents for a pony so that I could be just like Elizabeth Taylor in that movie.

Southern Women Photo Contest

By Haskell HarrisBelle DecorMarch 22, 2011

Like a lot of Southerners, I never get tired of sifting through old photographs. Particularly photos of all the women in my family. There is something artful and inspiring about the snapshots. Every time I go back over my favorites, I find it fascinating that I'm a product of all the women that came before me.
