Rainbow Brite

Jessi Arrington is the happiest designer I've ever seen. She loves life (and everything else, really), wears only vintage and second-hand clothes (excluding undergarments, obviously), and says "rainbow" is her favorite color. In fact, even the name of her web site and blog, Lucky So and So, refers to the unfailingly optimistic song written by Duke Ellington and Mack David. Ordinarily, I'd be skeptical of someone with such a sunny perspective, but when I stumbled onto this video of Jessi creating a rainbow-colored skateboard swing for an art fundraiser, I couldn't help but find her positivity infectious.

Raised in Starkville, Mississippi, Jessi studied art and design at SCAD and Mississippi State before moving to New York City to start her career in 2001. Since then, she's carried out branding for Brooklyn Brewery and Tomato Records, worked with design supernovas like Milton Glaser, and co-founded her own design firm called Workshop. The skateboard swing was a one-time deal, unfortunately, but Jessi continues to spread the rainbow gospel on her blog and through her local rainbow parties.
