Renaissance Woman
Texas artist D'Ette (pronounced DEE-ET) Cole is one of those people who can look at anything—a matchbook, a piece of tissue paper strewn in the sand, a button—and find the beauty in it immediately.
Not surprisingly, she co-founded one of Austin's most beloved style landmarks: Uncommon Objects on Congress Street.
But for years now she's been operating a business that plays up her multi-faceted talents: Etta Industry. At Etta Industry, she is a creative director, an interior designer, a product designer, a graphic designer, a photographer, and a stylist. It's a brilliant idea really, a perfect way for her to make the most of her skills.
This morning, I called her up in Austin to find that she's moving to San Antonio, on to even newer projects, including the launch of W5ran.com, which she calls an "indie online show-and-tell."
Here's a look at some of my favorite examples of her work:
1) Creative direction for Patti Griffin's Impossible Dream CD photo shoot

2) A collage of photos from her quirky house

5) One of her product designs: chandeliers made from recycled plastic bottles. Amazing.
