G&G joined the South Carolina Aquarium to celebrate and honor the works of conservationists at the 2009 Environmental Stewardship Awards Gala. The black-tie soirée was held on Liberty Square, right outside of the aquarium in Charleston, with the Cooper River as the perfect backdrop. Alexandra Cousteau and Philippe Cousteau Jr., both esteemed environmentalists in their own right and grandchildren of notable environmentalist Jacques-Yves Cousteau, received the Legacy Award. For its long history of a commitment to the environment, MeadWestVaco received the Leadership Award while one of the ACE Basin Project’s founding fathers, Charles Lane, received the Achievement Award. Guests sipped on cocktails, enjoyed the decadent fare, and stepped out on the dance floor – all while taking in the magnificent vistas these honorees have worked so hard to preserve.
