Go South

Summer School

The biggest buzz coming out of Florida this month is the opening of Studio B, a program that pairs some of the South’s most creative and talented people with groups of no more than fifteen lucky students—in other words, you.

Ever wanted to make fresh mozzarella from scratch? Sign up for a class with cheese guru Paula Lambert. Want to go deep-sea fishing with Emeril Lagasse then spend the afternoon preparing your catch? There’s a course for that, too. You’ll also find style maven India Hicks (above) on the lineup, and a memoir-writing class taught by Kim Sunée, the best-selling author of Trail of Crumbs.

Studio B is the brainchild of Colleen Duffley, a food and lifestyle photographer who decided to round up her former subjects and set them loose in a classroom setting—a setting that involves a stunning villa in Alys Beach, Florida, plenty of wine, and lots of fun. Besides the courses, Duffley also has dinners, gallery openings, and theater productions in the works. Sounds like a homework assignment worth doing.
