Sometimes all you need to top off a classic holiday look (and put you in the mood to party) is a fun accessory. And that’s exactly why we fell for the line of tassel earrings by third-generation Charlestonian Hart Hagerty.

The baubles were inspired by the time the young designer spent in Shanghai from 2009 to 2014 as a magazine editor. She fell in love with the region’s ancient textile and passementerie traditions. “I started making the earrings for myself while living in Shanghai and launched the line officially in 2016,” says Hagerty, who now lives stateside in her hometown again. “Tassel earrings are like diamond studs and gold hoops—they are timeless classics that go with everything,” she says. ”Southern women love to look feminine, but they also know the beauty in not overdoing it. These earrings are as easy to wear with a Barbour jacket at an oyster roast as they are a party.”

Hagerty’s pieces, which retail from $54-$64 are made by hand in Shanghai and the color variations change with the seasons. Right now there are plenty of celebratory hues: cream, black, red, green, and beautiful metallic shades.

Best of all, they fit perfectly in a stocking.
