Job Opening: Marketing Copy Manager

Garden & Gun Magazine, LLC is looking for a copy manager to join our integrated marketing team. The ideal candidate possesses excellent writing, editing and grammatical skills, creativity, and attention to detail. Experience as a copywriter or editor for an advertising agency or media company is highly preferred. This role will report to the Associate Publisher, Marketing, and will work closely with the entire marketing team.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Coordinate all G&G marketing copy projects, to include planning, execution and evaluation with internal and external resources
• Ensure a cohesive marketing voice across all G&G channels
• Work cross-functionally with other senior creative leaders, marketing, digital, editorial and design
• Have a deep passionate understanding of the G&G brand and culture to develop and execute effective copy
• Translate marketing and partner objectives into clear creative strategies for freelance writers
• Manage and copy edit freelance writers and allocates workflow to meet established brand deliverables and deadlines
• Edit and create engaging marketing copy for use across all of Garden & Gun platforms (print, digital, social) and businesses (magazine, website, retail, restaurant, events), as well as for sales materials, including presentations and digital marketing platforms
• Develop branded content concepts that align with G&G’s and partner brand’s strategies
• Oversee exciting and unique stories that resonate with our readers
• Develop copy for sponsored social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) in partnership with advertising clients
• Writing clear, creative, and engaging copy for event collateral, including invitations, signage, and photo captions
• Proofreading and copy-editing marketing materials as needed
• Maintain G&G brand style guides
• Stay current on editorial trends in fashion, style, sporting, food, popular culture and social trends in the competitive landscape
• Manage copy development, including overall organization, flow, direct fact checking, appropriate referencing and legal language
• Adheres to demands of production schedule
A successful candidate will possess the following qualities/skills/abilities:
• Edit and direct marketing copy and branded content in the G&G voice
• Write with impeccable spelling and grammar
• Excellent storytelling abilities and a curious eye for unique details
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to self-motivate and stay organized
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, journalism, or communications with emphasis on writing is preferred
• 3-4 years of copywriting experience, ad agency or editorial experience preferred
