Generations of New Orleanians have enjoyed milk punch on holiday mornings and especially during Mardi Gras season. Here is the recipe served at Brennan’s restaurant, made with the imbiber’s choice of spirit.

Ingredients

  • Yield: 1 cocktail

    • 2 oz. milk

    • 2 oz. cream

    • 1½ oz. bourbon whiskey or brandy

    • 1½ oz. vanilla bean-infused simple syrup

    • Freshly ground nutmeg, for garnish

Preparation

  1. Combine first four ingredients over ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe or wine glass with no ice. Garnish with nutmeg.
