The Curveball

In honor of Atlanta’s World Series run, mix this Braves-inspired cocktail from the Garden & Gun Club

For the first time since 1999, the Atlanta Braves are in the World Series, and to celebrate, Garden & Gun Club general manager Dustin Phillips and lead bartender Corey Newton concocted this celebratory sip, a punchy refresher that gets its “Braves red” hue from a splash of Campari.

“I’m a huge Braves fan, and I have been my whole life, so I wanted to create something to commemorate this,” says Phillips, a Georgia native. “The combination of peach vodka and Amaro Nonino gives you a drink that starts off sweet but ends pleasantly bitter—like a curveball.” A fitting title, considering the Atlanta team’s sudden rise in the second half of this season.

This week, the Garden and Gun Club at the Battery Atlanta is open for reservations on Tuesday and Wednesday (away games) and Thursday. The restaurant is open during the home games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if there is a Game 5) but won’t take reservations on those days.

Ingredients

    • 1 oz. 229 peach flavored vodka

    • ¾ oz. Campari

    • ¾ oz. Amaro Nonino

    • ¾ oz. lemon juice

    • Lemon peel for garnish

Preparation

  1. Combine ingredients in a shaker and strain into a rocks glass over ice. Garnish with lemon peel.
