Turn the World On: A Bold and Bittersweet Cocktail

From the Garden & Gun Club at Stitzel-Weller Distillery, a drink that amps up the tropical flavor

A refreshing fusion of flavors, the Turn the World On unites the smooth warmth of Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey with the rich depth of Mr Black Coffee Liqueur. Banana demerara adds a touch of sweetness, while allspice dram introduces a hint of spice. Topped with a splash of heavy cream and a sprinkle of fresh nutmeg, it’s sure to captivate the senses.


Ingredients

  • TURN THE WORLD ON (YIELD: 1 COCKTAIL)

    • 2 oz. Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

    • ¾ oz. heavy whipping cream

    • ¾ oz Mr Black Coffee Liqueur

    • ¼ oz. banana demerara (recipe follows)

    • ¼ oz allspice dram

    • 2 drops cinnamon tincture

    • Fresh nutmeg, to taste

    • 1 cinnamon stick

  • For the banana demerara:

    • 1 quart water

    • 1 box raw cane sugar

    • 2 bananas, sliced


Preparation

  1. Make the banana demerara: Bring 1 quart of water to a boil. Dissolve 1 box of raw cane sugar in the boiling water. Steep 2 sliced bananas in the mixture for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool with bananas still in the mixture. Fine-strain and refrigerate.

  2. Make the cocktail: Shake bourbon, heavy whipping cream, coffee liqueur, banana demerara, cinnamon tincture, and allspice dram with crushed ice. Pour into a beer glass and top with more crushed ice. Grate fresh nutmeg over the top and add a cinnamon stick for garnish. Serve.
