Last summer we compiled a list of new nonstop (domestic and international) flights from the South to some really exciting cities in multiple continents. And with the launch of even more direct airline routes from Southern airports to destinations around the globe in 2025, streamlining travel continues to get easier. Whether you’re planning a quick weekend escape or a far-flung adventure, here are some of the top routes to watch.

Atlanta to Morocco, Aruba, and Honduras
Whether you’re itching to experience Central America’s rich cultural and eco-tourism offerings, Morocco’s lively markets and historic medinas, or a little luxury in the Caribbean, Delta and Frontier have got you covered with flights from Atlanta. Aruba joined the roster via Frontier on May 24, with weekly flights perfect for beach-bound travelers during the summer season. On June 12, Frontier is set to add San Pedro Sula, Honduras, a three-times-weekly route that provides easy access to the country. And this fall, Delta will launch its first-ever direct flight from Atlanta to Morocco in October.
Nashville to Iceland and Dublin
Music City’s international reach is growing with new routes from Nashville International Airport. As of April, Icelandair debuted four-times-weekly direct flights to Reykjavík, an ideal launchpad for exploring Iceland’s glaciers and hot springs. Aer Lingus followed suit on April 12 with four-times-weekly flights to Dublin, giving American travelers a convenient path to Ireland’s historic sites and boisterous pub culture.
Texas to Taiwan, Mexico, and more
The Lone Star State is expanding its global connections from multiple cities this year. EVA Air introduces direct flights from Dallas to Taipei on October 3, making Taiwan’s night markets and mountain trails more accessible. And in Austin, new domestic routes on Frontier to Miami, Philadelphia, and Phoenix allow for quick trips to culturally diverse cities with major food scenes (maybe even some pools and palm trees, too). Meanwhile, El Paso is gearing up for a big milestone with its first international route in over a decade—flights to Chihuahua, Mexico, will launch in 2026, three times weekly via TAR Mexico.
Charlotte to Europe, Canada, and U.S. cities
American Airlines is ramping up international service with new direct flights from its hubs to Europe. From Charlotte they’re launching a direct flight to Athens. Domestically, new summer routes to Calgary, Bozeman, Jackson Hole, and Spokane offer easy access to nature escapes. Meanwhile, Avelo Airlines is boosting service from Wilmington with flights to Houston, D.C., Detroit, and Long Island—perfect for city-hopping or weekend getaways.
Orlando to sunny San Diego, Los Angeles, and more
Orlando International Airport just recently announced twenty-plus new flights including nonstop routes to San Diego and Richmond, adding to its robust domestic network. August brings new connections to Fort Myers, Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, Miami, and Sarasota, making Central Florida an even better hub for sun seekers, foodies, and culture lovers looking to explore from coast to coast.
Charleston to Bermuda, Burlington, and beyond
As G&G’s travel editor, I’m always looking for direct flights out of my home airport, so I’m truly stoked that Charleston added a flight every Saturday to Bermuda on Bermudair. (The island is a longtime favorite of G&G staff and readers.) Also, the super-convenient Breeze airlines just added three new summer flights, including one I’m particularly excited about—Burlington, Vermont—because it puts me closer to my in-laws’ farm on Lake Champlain and cooler weather come summer. Speaking of cooler weather, Air Canada offers a seasonal direct flight from the Lowcountry to lovely Toronto. —CJ Lotz Diego, senior editor
