For Dr. Hallie Sheade, 4 Hearts Ranch is far more than a paddock—it’s a place of profound transformation. Here, amid wide-open pastures where quiet horses breathe, she guides clients through equine-assisted counseling that has changed thousands of lives. Across more than 8,000 sessions, Dr. Sheade, her expert team, and the gentle giants in their care have supported military veterans and their families, at-risk youth, and individuals facing a wide range of mental-health challenges. Yet in recent years, she recognized a critical gap: many who needed this healing most—especially veterans and vulnerable young people—could not afford to access it. That realization led to the founding of Spectrum of Therapeutic Equine-Partnered Services, better known as S.T.E.P.S. With Horses in 2021, a nonprofit devoted to ensuring these communities receive the support they deserve.
Helping advance that mission are local champions such as Brumbaugh’s Furniture and Design in Fort Worth, Texas. Known for its commitment to authentic Texas style and luxury Western furnishings, Brumbaugh’s rallied the community on November 6 for a spirited celebration of the American West during Cowtown Collection 2025. The dynamic live auction featured standout pieces from some of today’s most compelling Western artists, along with rare, experiential offerings—including An Evening with Garden & Gun: Game Dinner in Fort Worth, an exclusive package featuring two seats at the elevated dinner, access to the Friday evening Fort Worth Rodeo Launch Celebration at Bowie House, a curated selection of premium bourbon, G&G’s signature books, Fieldshop by G&G merchandise, and a one-year membership to the G&G Society.
Thanks to these generous contributions, the event made a meaningful impact on S.T.E.P.S. With Horses’ equine-assisted mental health services—a powerful partnership that underscores how the enduring spirit of the American West continues to lift up communities across the country.
