Job Opening: Social Media Editor

The position is focused on all aspects of social media for Garden & Gun

Garden & Gun seeks a social media expert who can help us connect with users on various platforms. The ideal candidate will have experience in journalism, marketing, design, and of course, social media. The person will help shape strategy and be responsible for day-to-day engagement with users—so we’re looking for a big thinker as well as someone who sweats the details. The position is based in our office in Charleston, South Carolina.

Job responsibilities include:

—Help define and execute strategies to grow G&G’s presence, engagement, and referrals across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn

—Create, design, and execute social-only stories for various platforms

—Manage paid social media campaigns for editorial and sales teams

—Help develop and execute opportunities for sponsors on G&G social platforms

—Compose and schedule editorial posts, as well as posts for retail and restaurant extensions of G&G

—Work with teams across the organization, including editorial, sales, creative services, and marketing

—Track and monitor the latest social media trends

—Establish and manage social partnerships with other brands

—Use analytics to understand audiences across platforms

—Monitor social channels, answer questions, and interact with followers

—Conceive and execute stories for G&G’s website on a regular basis

Requirements:

—Two to four years of experience managing social media accounts for an editorial or lifestyle brand, preferably:

       —Experience working in an editorial environment; excellent news judgment; awareness of current events; strong writing skills; attention to detail

       —Experience creating posts that have proven to reach intended audiences and encouraged users to click on, react to, or share content

       —Experience conceiving, producing, and designing assets for various social platforms, using text, photography and video

       —Experience with paid social media campaigns, including scheduling, setting budgets, and managing audiences

—Four-year college degree in journalism, communications, or marketing strongly preferred

—Familiarity with social media publishing tools such as Hootsuite, Planoly, and Iconosquare, as well as analytics platforms such as Google Analytics

—A solid understanding of the G&G brand and voice
