Photos: Charleston Sparkles After a Rare Snowstorm

A blanket of snow turns the Lowcountry to snow country

In the first muted light of a gray-sky morning, shouts of laughter could be heard up and down Charleston’s historic streets as dogs romped, kids frolicked, and kids-at-heart towed makeshift sleds by hand and golf cart. The snowstorm that had pummeled much of the South the day before had not skipped the Holy City, whose colorful homes, storefronts, and camellias looked lovelier than ever under a layer of white.
