Tipple Talk with Greg Hojnacki

Meet the bartender at Garden & Gun Club at Stitzel-Weller Distillery

There’s a reason the TV show Cheers ran for eight seasons: Who doesn’t want to go where everybody knows your name? Or at least your favorite cocktail. That’s also why the Garden & Gun Club at Louisville’s Stitzel-Weller Distillery is so appealing. Affable head bartender Greg Hojnacki is as knowledgeable as he is agreeable—a savvy mixologist who offers guests not just a warm welcome but a well-researched look into the background of every drink he serves, be it a timeless old-fashioned or a modern classic like a Paper Plane.

And Hojnacki is always willing to help guests find a new favorite. In fact, sharing unique drinks that he’s learned about during his years in the industry—pre-Prohibition concoctions, trendy new blends, and twists on standbys—is one of his specialties. Watch the video to learn more about Hojnacki, his inspiration, and his preferred sips this season. Then make his cocktails at home or visit Derby City and star in your own Cheers reboot.
