First Listen: Hot Rize’s ‘When I’m Free’

Twenty-four years after their last studio release, Hot Rize is back with a brand new album and fall tour

Bluegrass fans the world over know the name Hot Rize, a quartet of musical luminaries who put out a slew of stellar albums since forming in 1978 and influenced a whole new generation of pickers with their seamless blend of tradition and modernity. Dubbed the “Lamborghini of bluegrass” by Garrison Keillor, the supergroup disbanded at the pinnacle of their success in 1990, the same year they won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year award, and esteemed solo careers followed. But twenty-four years after their last studio release, Hot Rize is back with a brand new album and fall tour.

When I’m Free will be released September 30, but you can listen to an exclusive stream of the album below.

Hot Rize is currently on tour with dates scheduled through the end of the year. Pre-order When I’m Free now on Amazon and iTunes.
