Garden & Gun and Wilmington, NC and Beaches present a sea-to-table dining experience in the heart of Washington, D.C. at The Salt Line. Wilmington-based chef and oysterman James Doss of Rx Chicken & Oysters brings innovative Southern coastal cuisine to the capital with a menu showcasing fresh flavors and sustainably harvested local ingredients. The evening begins with a cocktail hour featuring creative libations and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a three-course dinner designed to transport guests to North Carolina’s shores.

Chef James Doss

James Doss is a chef, spearfisherman, oyster farmer, and owner of Rx Chicken & Oysters in Wilmington, North Carolina. Doss began his career honing his craft under some of the best chefs in Wilmington and Charleston, South Carolina, including two years under Sean Brock at Husk, before opening Rx Chicken & Oysters in 2012. Located in the Castle Arts District, Rx Chicken & Oysters initially featured a daily-changing menu focused on local ingredients. In 2022, Doss and his wife, Sarah, rebranded the restaurant to develop their seafood operation. The pair farms and serves their oysters, Lucy Beas, and also focuses on sustainable fishing and spearfishing, including serving invasive lionfish. Their menu also includes sustainably farmed chicken, pork, beef, and local vegetables.
