A boat is a major lifestyle upgrade, a buoyant symbol of freedom and adventure, and sure, you could celebrate its acquisition by shattering a bottle of bubbly over the bow. That is, if you don’t mind sweeping up broken glass, possibly damaging the boat, and wasting perfectly good booze. Instead, relish that champagne in a delicious cocktail that further hoists the sailing theme with rum and lime. Distribute a round from the galley as the sun sets and seal your reputation not just as captain of the ship, but commodore of cocktails.
